Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy

  • As a parent are you experiencing a change in your child that you are feeling confused as to what to do to help your child?
  • Perhaps you may recently have experienced a separation from your spouse, and are wondering about the effect that it may be having on your children.

Children are often communicating their needs within their behaviors, and it is often within the experience of negative behaviors that many of the conflicts and difficulties between parent and child arise. Early intervention can reduce longterm negative effects, and increase a child’s success in self-confidence, school, staying out of trouble, and improve their relationship with you as a parent.

In my work with children, I provide psychotherapy for children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18.  Along with working with the child, I work to help you as the parent, supporting you in your role, and answering any questions you may have.

Individual Psychotherapy

We as humans can often get trapped into a pattern in our life that seems to take on a life of its own, preventing us from knowing truely who we are, and where we are going.  In individual counseling I provide a safe space for you and I to get to know you, your story, and for a healing relationship to develop.  I will help you toward discovering the sources of your suffering, to enable you to move through the suffering.

Therapy usually consists of meeting once a week for a period of time, dependent on your needs.  It is important for regular and consistent meetings between us, allowing a healing relationship to develop.  Our work over time can expand your confidence in relationships, as well as allow you to hold greater insight into your own life and the choices you have in moving through future challenges.

Family Counseling

  • Are you a parent who is noticing a change for the worse within your family, you can see the problem but don’t know what to do about it?
  • Has your family recently experienced a significant change, like divorce or the loss of loved one, and you are wondering about the impact this may be having on your children?

Through family counseling, the families I work with find new understanding and insight into the patterns of communication that have lead each member to feeling trapped in their role within the family.  With understanding, new ways of communication and relationship have the opportunity to develop, and each member can feel more confident in themselves as a person, and safe within the family as a whole.

I provide family counseling sessions, meeting individually and as a group.  Check out the Fees/Information page for more information.
